Deepening Darkness at Magical Mumbles ....

Magical Mumbles ....

Verdi's at the Knab Rock .....

A Welsh flashback ....

Dusk falls at Southend, Mumbles, Swansea. I'm meeting an old friend at Verdi's restaurant on the Knab Rock.
We're both old enough to remember when there was a Knab Rock at the site of Verdi's .....

The end of a great day - the coffee at Verdi's was excellent, and the company of a wonderful friend that I've not seen for donkey's years was even better!!
All in all - it was a perfect ending to a perfect day .....

The Bristol Colonade ....

"Admired by its alert contemporary Horace Walpole for its grace as a Classical Composition, and enriched by Gothic Detail, it was also held in high regard by the Council for the Preservation of Ancient Bristol, whose good offices and the generosity of its former owners, The Bristol Tramways and Carriage Company, have made possible its preservation in Portmeirion"

" This Colonade built circa 1760 by the Quaker copper smelter William Reeve. It stood before his Bath House at Arnos Court, Bristol. Damaged by bombs, it had fallen to decay, although scheduled as an Ancient Monument. Her Majesty's Minister of Works approved its removal on condition that it should be here re-scheduled"

Burlington. The Biggest Ribfest in North America!!

This weekend was perfect for the biggest Ribfest in North America!! It was a case of "standing room only" at Spencer Smith park in Burlington, Ontario.

With a full rack of ribs going for $20 there were appetites a'plenty looking to be satisfied .....

These two guys look like they're off to a flying start .......

Where there's smoke there's ribs a'cooking!! And boy were they ever good. It was hard to make a choice from all the great "ribbers" that were there. It's on all this long weekend, so if you're local I'd really recommend it!!

Playground dawn .....

The playground at Spencer Smith park in Burlington borders Lake Ontario.
The promenade there is a favourite place for strollers; cyclists; walkers; joggers and photographers too!
Winter time is usually the most spectacular, with the powerful storms causing huge waves, and later the wonderful ice formations on anything and everything in sight.

Our summer .....

I think this summer has been the wetest on record. If it isn't, it certainly seems that way!! I guess one benefit is that we don't have to worry about the low lake levels around here for a while ......
