Fifty million pine needles later.......

Our neighbour's tree being taken down. It's needles were clogging all the gutters in both houses. It's resin was ruining outside furniture. It's branches were close to damaging the roof. I'm sorry to see it go, but when I think of future problems avoided by it being removed, I'm happier for that.

Soil next......

Cut some drainage holes, line the base with mesh and landscape fabric, and put plastic sheet around the sides, then I can put the soil in.
Cut the posts down a smidgen, and put some plastic caps on them to keep the rain out.

No weeds allowed......

This will be the first of five raised 8ft x 4ft x 16" garden boxes I can fit in the old pool area.
This one is 30" high overall, so we don't have to bend while "tending the crops".
So far all I've bought are four deck spikes to hold the corner posts. All the timber is coming from the old above ground pool structure.

Our back garden.

The trees have grown a bit since the last post.

And there it was - gone!!

Our old swimming pool is now history, and is destined to become a raised-bed garden area for some veggies.

A little bit of work......

Our old deck was getting really tired, so we bit the bullet and replaced the whole top surface - and levelled where it was needed.
It's 30 feet long by 19 wide, so it took me a while - and a lot of trips to the lumber store!!

Our summer .....

I think this summer has been the wetest on record. If it isn't, it certainly seems that way!! I guess one benefit is that we don't have to worry about the low lake levels around here for a while ......
