It has taken the people who had the contract for this job four attempts to get it to this point!!
The previous three were pathetic - posts not concreted in the ground - gate tubes bending - hinge brackets falling off - the list goes on and on.
This attempt, they say, is the bees knees of gates. "It will outlast Lake Ontario" quote!
When it's closed, you can drive a truck around either side of it (see the wheel marks).
So -- Why do we need a gate?????
Another waste of taxpayers money.

Clembrook Christmas Tree Farm.
Signs at farm entrance.
From the side of one of the barns, looking up towards the escarpment rim.
Amongst the trees, looking out over the farm.
Amazing!!
Inside this beautiful old cedar and stone barn, that's being preserved in the best possible way -- by using it.
Too many of them are being destroyed through neglect, while more modern farm buildings are used instead.

My Old Blog
Just thought I'd mention that you can still open my previous photoblog "A Chippbutty's Views".
It has over 500 photos on subjects ranging from Winter to Wildlife, from Burlington to Boating.
Plantlife and Industry are also covered.
Subjects are selected by clicking on them in the "Tag Cloud" on the left side as you scroll down.
You can navigate using "next - last - first - previous" buttons at page top and bottom.
It must have had something going for it, the last time I looked it had over 10,000 page views.
Here's the link ......... http://ca.blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-HqY6d687fqC.QaUK0n1DLEJr;_ylt=AplCTJZjx..3IeEA4W7JPCXMTuJ3

A Special Place.
These shots are in addition to those posted on Nov 10.
.
I hope they will give you an idea of what this area is like.
.
See other pictures of the escarpment and learn about the growing opposition to the "Mid Pen Highway" at ....... http://www.cope-nomph.org/index.shtml
It's the "Citizens Opposed to Paving the Escarpment" website.
.
More great photos of the Niagara Escarpment can be found on the "Bruce Trail Conservancy" site.
.
They do really great work maintaining and keeping the trail open for everyone to use.
.
Please check their site/gallery out at ........ http://www.brucetrail.org/explorethetrail.asp?id={EFD4F195-C1FE-47AA-AF1D-5C1BCB030716}

A Special Place.
I guess we all know a place that is special to us for one reason or another. These pictures are of an area that's special to me, and I think for a lot of other people too.
It's in Burlington; on a stretch of the Bruce Trail; on the Niagara Escarpment.
I may be wrong, but I believe it's threatened by a scheme called "The Mid-Peninsula Highway".
If this proposed highway does end up coming through this area to join with the existing highway 407, then we will have lost another natural treasure to the asphalt and concrete jungle.
I'll include directions with upcoming photos, so if you're in Burlington or close by, then I'll hope you'll visit it and see for yourselves.
If you want to help, then send this blogs address on to others. The more people who can see what may be lost, the better chance we've got of keeping this "Special Place" for everyone and their children too.
Click on the photos to enlarge, and key F11 for full screen view.

Just because of a bee!!
I watched a programme the other night about the common honey bee. They're in dead trouble. If we don't find a fix for their problems, we're going to be in dead trouble as well. Take a look at this article from "The New York Times", it brings it home!
